Monroe News

It is great to be back for a sixth year as Monroe’s Safety Ambassador and to have Australia’s number one shock absorber brand along for an exciting ride in 2015.

I have a brand new car for the season, the FG-X Falcon, which is destined to be the last Ford Falcon V8 Supercar, which will be a bit nostalgic for me, seeing that I have been behind the wheel of a Ford Falcon across my entire V8 Supercar career.

The season got underway at our massive annual season opener, the Clipsal 500 in Monroe’s home city of Adelaide. This event just gets bigger and better every year and we came home with a top five finish after experiencing some set-up issues early on. A fortnight later we were in Melbourne for the Grand Prix and the lessons learned in Adelaide paid off well as our car was near perfect on the Albert Park circuit. I took pole position and a perfect score of four wins out of the four races in front of a huge Grand Prix crowd. The only problem with this perfect weekend was that these races don’t count towards our Championship.

After the Grand Prix I was on a plane to Brazil for my second Brazil V8 Stock Car race, pairing once again with Marcos Gomes in his Peugeot, this time at the Goiania circuit. After qualifying second we also finished the endurance race in second place. It was great to qualify and beat several former F1 drivers who were competing there as well.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at the Monroe stand during the 2015 AAA Expo in Melbourne or at the race events. Keep it safe on the roads.
